Sustainable web development
From day dot for our new company Radiant Logic PTY LTD we have been purchasing 100% sustainable premium green power. Climate change is something that greatly affects everyone and making the switch is a very important step for companies to follow, and us as a web application development company primarily operating on computers and servers need no exception! I was very glad to hear during the week that the current hosting company that we use for VWS in Australia has gone 100% green also, meaning that our customers are helping reduce carbon emmissions. This area is something that we will be working on a lot this year forming a greening community with a few different companies to talk about changes that companies can make to reduce their carbon footprint. I think it is important for staff to raise the issue with the directors of their company and start making this change.

The company I work for has been using Green Power for the last 18 months. We also have a very organised recycling system enforced through the workplace too - good to see the corporate world is taking responsibility!

Great respect sent your way! Yes, it costs a lot for companies to go the 100% premium green power, going any green power is important, but what product you purchase from what supplier is equally important to the goal! Recycling is important start and a lot of other methods are available for companies to have a look at; only using green paper, green suppliers, printers, recycling computers, switching bulbs, the office kitchen, fridge, dishwasher, bathrooms etc. The list is endless of actions to go further! Green everything, only ride to work or catch public transport, neutralise your home bill (on average a household produces 14 tonnes of greenhouse gass emissions per year), switch off appliances at the wall, make goal to use power saving rated appliances, setup power saving profiles on your computers, make sure monitors are being switched off, don’t use A/C, put on another layer of clothes or strip down a little in summer. And then there is everything for saving water!
